Clinical Experience of Heart Valve Surgery


Abstract
Sixty consecutive cases of single mitral single aortic, double mitral and aortic valve replacement were underwent from May 1991 to Oct, 1993 in the department of thoracic and cardiovascular surgery of Dong-A University Hospital,
Of 60 patients 23 were males and 37 were females, The age ranged from 17 to 67 (mean: 36,2) years old,
Mitral valve replacement was done in 29 patients, aortic valve replacement in 17 and double mitral and aortic valve replacement in 14 patients,
Symtomatic improvement was excellent in most of the cases showing the mean of the postop, NYHA classes of 1,4 from preop, NYHA classes of 2,9, Hemodynamic improvement was significant statistically showing postop, C/T ratio 0,57¡¾0,061 from preop,

ratio of 0,52¡¾0,053 and postop, Left atrial dimension 44,3¡¾7,6(mm) from 56,8¡¾13,6(mm),
Postop, Complications were low cardiac output in 4, arrhythmia in 3, hemopericardium in 2, acute renal failure in 2 and thromboembolism in 2,
The mortality rate was none and the results were excellent, as comparable to those reported from other cardiac centers,
